I had an interesting thought tonight. Many of us have BOB's and set ups for Bug in's, bugouts and fallback locations etc. In the event that you had to leave your home for a Natural disaster or man made event not counting what you would take for food shelter and survival. Family and pets are with you on the road.
What one item would you take to comfort yourself. Bible, family photo album, books, mp3 player, something special that has some meaning?
I asked my wife and she couldn't think of anything. I'm not sure myself. But if I had to choose right now I would probably grab my Hennesy Hammock just to have a place to lounge around or a comfortable place to rest and sleep. I am guessing my wife would take a camera to record the journey.
So what do you take? What one thing might make things more bearable?

My first response is already something I have in my Mini-Bob, the 511 push pack. A New Testament/Psalms and Proverbs.
I, like Sar5 will have to give it some more thought.

MB, Great question as you well understand: morale is critical to survival. My answer is: BIBLE. My secondary answer would be a deck of Playing Cards with knot tying information on them. My wife and I could play cards (or you can play solitaire type games) and entertain/distract yourself by practicing different knots (which is a valuable survival skill). Here are the knot tying playing cards that I have: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Survival-Playing...=item2eb6f3a296

Iteresting question. I had to tink about it a bit, before answering: my Canon S95, to record the ordeal, and share it with you guys! :-)

My first thought before reading posts was deck of cards, I like the idea of cards with information on them also as in the knots suggestion, or first aid, or survival tips.
I would also think about some dice, a pocket constitution, bible and or some other inspirational reading.

Skorpyd, as you said, something informational, inspiring or just something to relieve the boredom, something to bring comfort, to renew our will to survive in spite of our situation.

For me I have a deck of cards, a pad of paper and pencil, and a small New Testament Bible (pocket version).

I have an entire bible that is the size of a small new testament I always have in my work bag. It isn't read enough.
I also downloaded a copy to my phone that way it isn't dependant on online service just batteries.

Probably my Nook ereader, got a library of over 800 useful, inspiring and entertaining texts on it and it gives me days of continuous reading on a single charge (and will charge on any USB port I can find along the way.)
