Can someone PLEASE explain to me what that is? I know it has something to do with the shape of the cutting edge. I am still a novice though :-)

Just look at the profiles of the grind types and you will get the idea. Their ULTRA convex MIGHT be a full height convex, meaning the "Appleseed" shape goes from the edge to the spine in one continuous arc where the sides are not flat.

I would also point you to the milling lines on the new SYKCO 11-series knives. It is my belief, though not confirmed by Dan or SYKCO, that the milling lines found on these blades are a machining method used to obtain a perfect geometrical convex grind (with the sabre flat at the top of the blade). It's not perfectly smooth, but if I was a betting man, I'd bet that the angle geometry is perfect.

I suspect this allows the use of CNC mills to quickly grind the blades to an ideal geometry. The dimensions yield just enough gap between the milling lines that when coated, the blade coating is flush. Price to performance ratio...CHECK!

Photo courtesy of MILES, I am hopeful he does not mind me using it here. His picture is the best I've seen highlighting the lines on the 511.

On the subject, what does the saber part refer to?
Is it the shape of the which is called saber grind or what?

A saber grind is where the part of the blade grind near the spine is straight and then transitions into a bevel of some sort closer towards the edge. For instance in Skunk's picture I believe they are all saber ground.

There is also "full flat" which means the same angle goes all the way from the spine to the edge bevel, or full convex where the convex angle keeps going all the way to the spine.

Ok thanks. I guess it means, that a saber grind is a stronger bladecontruction, than a full flat.
I think the 711 will be a tank of a knife.

I think you got the idea. It was one of the main differences between the Test Team Regulator and the Standard Production/Military Regulator.
