I heard a comment on Youtube stating that he thought S5's were diff. Heat treated. Can anyone comment as to that being accurate?

I'm pretty sure they are through- hardened, i don't think anything under 6 or 7 inches has been differentially treated

They are through hardened. Is it the video with the guy spraying Jasco on an S5 to strip it? I saw that a while back and posted the same question.

Yep same video haha. The through hardening doesn't bother me. The last Scrapper 5 I had held an insane edge. I could chop through green would and still push cut paper! I am sending mine off to RichardJ to put a nasty edge on it and then I may etch the logo, strip it, sand it down real good and then cold blue it. Not for sure though.
