Hi guys I registered here when I ordered my Scrapivore but then I got side tracked and didn't get to mess around with it very much until this past week. I stripped off the tan coating and played around with cold blue and bleach and ended up with this:

The pictures don't do it justice. I'm really happy with the way it turned out even if it's not exactly what I was trying to do. I am planning on paracord wrapping the handle if I can ever figure out a good way to do it. I've watched dozens of youtube videos but I always get lost <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />

That looks really sick! Did you have to do much polishing before hand?

Not really. I ended up carefully using 40 grit sandpaper to get the coating off after soaking it in acetone for a while. After that I only used 150 grit and steel wool. I meant to take pictures while I was working on it but I completely forgot once I got started. I cold blued the whole thing first and that looked really good. Then I rubbed most of it off with the 150 grit and then used a Q-tip to drop some cold blue on a few spots and immediateley wrapped it in a paper towel and soaked it with bleach. I was really nervous so I only left it for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it off and using steel wool to get the surface rust off.

Thats crazy! Sounds like a mad scientist experiment. Ive never messed with the blueing process or bleaching but Im really interested now. Mine just looks like it will be pitted more under the coating than or maybe it just really nice and thick lol.

Wow what are the chances of that!? I grew up in Alamogordo and moved over here in '04 for college and I've been here since then.
