Ok fellow dogs , I thought I'd throw an idea out to the pack here . Since Dan announced the release of the 311 in the near future , there has been two threads of ideas and wish list about it . Now I might be wrong here , but I'm thinking that "after" such an announcment it might be too late to be giving our input as to what we'd like . After all the poor guy might just have this all planned out already lol .
So I was thinking , what if we start our wish list "now" for the 911 . Put our ideas and preferances up here ahead of time so that Dan could see them and actually think about weather any of them fit into his vision of what the 911 would be . We all like talking knives anyway and it never hurts to dream , right ?
So , here are MY thoughts . Since the Dogfather is an icon , I wouldn't step on it's toes . So it being .275" thick I would suggest the 911 just be a good full .250" thick . A saber grind like the 711 but with a nice 2" tall blade that would allow for a full 1/2" at the top of the blade to be left the full .250" thick and still leave 1 1/2" to make the grind on . This should make a nice cutting edge . Also on "my" wish list would be for SR-77 rather than the SR-101 , due to the knife being more of a chopper . And of corse our beloved resiprene-c handle
So add your thoughts . Or cover me in BBQ sauce and flame me till I'm cooked then feed the pack with me .

Mike, I think that would be to close to the SOD's specs for Dan to put one out like that, here's why I said that.
(SY) SODCG (SR-77)......... = 15.7 ounces; .264" thick; 7.5 blade; 12.5 oal
(SY) SODLE (SR-77)
. = 13.85 ounces; .25 thick; 7.5 blade; 12.5 oal
That being said, Since we have the DF, SOD, 711 I personally would like to see the 911 like this.
9 1/2 inch blade, 3/16 inch thick (.200 thick would be OK too). Blade height NO MORE THAN 1 3/4 inches with a full flat grind or a 1/2 inch flat at the top with only one grind from the flat to the edge. Yes this would require a satin finish at least on the grind. BUT a secondary bevel wouldn't be bad as we all know as in the normal way Dan grinds his blades.
Just my 2 cents worth, and as we all know Dan can't make a living for himself and all his folks on just 2 cents.
However you make it Dan, We WILL buy it!

12 inch infi blade, little over quarter inch thick, two an a half inches wide with full and our large res c handles that ate a half inch longer for better use with gloves.
Yeah that's my 911
Ps it's got a 12" blade but is called 911 because with this thing you never have to call for help again! can dream right

Well Skunk , the point here was not to knock other people's idea of how they would like to see the 911 . It was just for people to voice "their" idea so Dan could see what the people who buy his knives might be looking for . But I'd leave it to DAN to judge weather any idea has merrit .

The 9-11 prototype that I saw at Blade was really sweet, and I think everybody will be happy with it! As for blade thickness, my AshWackers with a .220 thick blade are REALLY sweet!!!

I think it should be 9.5" long, 2" tall .3" thick blade sabre or flat ground (either would be great!) with a thumb ramp and res-c handles! SR77 would be the icing on the cake!

I'd like to see 3/16" stock. There is already the Dogfather as a heavy duty chopper, a thinner stock 911 would make a great all round camp knife !
