The Kel-Tec looks like an interesting gun, but I have doubts. In no way do I mean to knock your weapon Sumo, but with the right ammo a 5.5 inch barrel on a Buck Mark or Ruger will result in nearly 1200 fps, that is the advertised velocity of a 22 mag fired from the PMR. Am I missing something?

I never noticed that until you pointed it out. The 22mag seems to lose a ton of velocity in the short barrel compared to a rifle. I guess it takes a while to burn up all that powder in such a long narrow case.

I have seen videos of the PMR, judging by the massive muzzle flash, there is a ton of unburned powder.

I actually got this PMR from a buddy that bought it when they first came out. He was on several wait lists and one of the newest gens came available so I got his older one. The difference between the gen I got and the one he got is mine has a fluted brl which Kel Tec has done away with for manufacturing speed reasons, my mags are not drop free when empty, and my frame is a bit less tacky to the feel. I put some rds through this pistol when it was my friends but not since I have acquired it.

As to the mag over the .22lr in a pistol, there is ammo that is formulated for the mag in pistol length brls that push more FPS. I like the advantage of 30 rounds too. If the rumor of a PMR-30 in .22lr materializes I will get one of them too. As a side note from shooting objects with a revolver in .22lr and .22mag the mag does a lot more damage. My brother had a SAA in .22lr/mag combo and the mag punched through things a lot better--unscientific but that is how the guys did their test in the old days (ask pigs and horses).

Energy is equal to 1/2 mass times velocity squared, so I'm guessing the 100-200 fps difference between 22LR and 22WMR in a pistol are enough to cause a visible difference in the target. Especially when 22LR is hovering around the subsonic/supersonic boundary out of the barrel and 22WMR could still be supersonic hitting the target.

Even the specialty rounds don't seem that impressive in the 4.3" barrel length like the PMR, but moving to a 6.5" revolver is a big improvement.

been looking at that one... looks like it's even tapped for the scope mount maybe. i don't get the serrations and don't like the gold color though. they could've slabbed the sides and left it grey aluminum and it would looked better imo...
