I have been thinking of getting a cheap sks, ammo is still cheap for it
They are fun to shoot

same here... at ~$300 it's seems to be a good option but I always end up looming at ak's and before I know it i talk myself in to a whole new ballgame.
Ak's are no go here, some nice cz's though

I want to do a brick and mortar place so people don't have the same issue I do. The problem is buying enough stock from different manufacturers and still being able to cover expenses.

can do inventory out of a storage unit for first couple years. setup special order and walk in orders through the website. build up enough inventory and and a strong enouh customer base to handle a Brock and mortar.

if you want to look into options it I think I could help you.

Cabela's has in store only sales sometimes. It is worth checking out. I bought a military ammo can full of 5.56 there for a decent price a while back.
Wholesale Sports does the same with surplus 7.62 x 39 russian

Every once in a while I get hooked up from range guys at the local base, but I mostly buy my ammo from the gun shop that gives free range time and free rental uses to military and law enforcement. There are cheaper places to buy ammo in town, but they deserve my business.
Good onyou for that

It is easy to repay them in that small way. They match prices on guns and give discounts to us service members too. I try to buy all my stuff there. It is run and owned by a bunch of former LEO and military guys too.

Here is a link for current online ammo prices.

http://ammoseek.com/

Not bad for checking prices but always check what they charge for shipping. I have seen some crazy variances for the same stuff.

When I was growing up in a small town we had a great little gun store.
I grew up and moved one town over
Every year until Tony retired and sold the business I would go there to buy my license, tags and a few needed items.
I even did that during the 7 years when my brother worked for a competitor

After 9/11 the US government has made it very difficult for US distributors to ship to Canada
Even things like screws for scope mounts require a permit
