I put a Volquortsen target trigger (has adjustment screws to take out the pre and over travel), target sear and it has a Burris Fastfire II mounted to a Tacsol rail. I got the thread barrel version since I recently bought a Sparrow SS suppressor. Just waiting on the tax stamp to get here.

My uncle has a Blackhawk and loves it. He is a huge fan of old school style revolvers.

I tried talking him out of it, but he wouldn't budge. He did give me his S&W 500 though. I fired it once, and I never plan to fire it again. Felt like a bomb went off in my hands.

ideal for home defense? no. handguns really aren't, anyway.
then again, the o/u isn't either and that's another piece on the wish list.

yeah, the 500 doesn't look like fun to me. the 454 redhawk alaskan looks pretty fun, never tried that either.

I think hand guns are great for home defense. Short shotguns are better, but for close quarters, handguns are great especially the large calibers.

maybe if i went to the range frequently, and had one of my own, and handling it was second nature, i'd agree.
i'm probably better off with pepper spray, considering my skill set.
