I love a good 12 gauge for in close work. With modern ammunition they are amazing. The ammo I use is 2 3/4 inch and with 00 buck I can keep them all on the torso at 30 yards. No flyers. Close headshots are cake. Nothing says GTF out of my house like a 12 gauge.

Personally I like a pistol grip. BUT MY idea of a "Pistol grip" is a full stock with a full pistol grip. I had a Beretta like that once and for a police shotgun it worked for me quite well. I sold it though cause it the barrel was 4 inches longer than I wanted. Nope, couldn't saw it off. Extended 8 round magazine.

My favorite home defense shotgun is an AR-15. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
If you could find it...an 870 Wingmaster in 28 gauge would suit you well. Cut the barrel to 18.5 (or find one)....or better yet, 12" and register it SBS.
I like the looks of a SBS with wood stock. Not quite tacticool, but reminds me of the old school gangsters.

Hows' about a 20 gauge coach gun? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
My local gun dealer had a line of like 10 used coach guns for some reason. Actually looks like fun!
I remember reading some thread somewhere where some folks wives liked them better too...good to have something the spouse can handle.

Coach guns are nice and compact, usually, but being limited to only to shots. Just doesn't do it for me.

The Super Shorty only comes in a 12ga. They have two models, based on either the Mossberg 500 or Remington 870. Stoeger makes a nice coach gun in either 20 or 12 ga. ![[Linked Image from thefirearmblog.com]](http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/double-defense-1.png) Throw a shell holder on the stock and this thing would be awesome.

You know, it wouldn't be all that bad. If you're comfortable with two shots at at time. I know it would scare the Bejeezus out of me!

Remington 870 20 or 12 with the factory 7 or 8 shot tube. Go to their web site and check them out

Hey, this has turned out to be a pretty informative thread. Thanks for all the info!
JJ, the gun dealer I'm having my guns (I also bought a Glock 21) shipped to has one of those little pump shotguns. It's the 870 version. Two in the mag and one in the pipe, better make 'em count!
I have to say that hearing the sound of a pump shot shotgun being racked is pretty intimidating, but, staring down the barrels of a sbs has it beat!
