Big price difference between the 2. I've been looking for a shield but no one has then around here and I didn't want to spring for a Kahr. Guess I'll wait until they become available. Still use my glock 26 but it's a little chunky for summer carry.

Can't really do an emp right now. I picked up a Springfield Champion Operator a few months ago and that blew my gun budget.

The emp is a Springfield. Nice gun but pricey.

Night sights that fit on the M&P series are supposed to fit the Shield, but I haven't replaced them yet. The emp is roughly 3 times the cost of the Shield. If I had to do it over again I would have gotten multiple Shields instead of the EMP. With that said the EMP is my favorite "small gun" followed by the Shield. I almost never recommend any gun, believing that you should try and choose the best that fits you, but the Shield is an exception.

Women love this gun, you should have seen how many women fondled it at the NRA convention. I wear a large glove and with the extended mag fits my hand perfectly. The short mag just isn't that comfortable, but maybe good for smaller hands.

i really like my shield and could see picking up another one at some point. think it's a good option for anybody who just wants some personal protection without going overboard. could easily be somebodies only gun or a firearm for somebody who isn't particularly a gun toting person. its not to big and not a mouse gun. light weight and small enough that you can keep it handy. would recommend this or a 642. mines will replace my 442 and actually may just become my goto gun once i get some rounds through it.

I couldn't see owning something like a PF9 or any of the other slim single stack firearms. the grips were all small and seem to taper down towards the bottom of the magwell. glock 26 and the other subcompacts always seemed chunky and odd to me. rather carry a full size but wanted something smaller. ended up buying a 442 and getting the grip with the pinky extended. now with the ergos on the shield im very comfortable. surprised but I actually prefer the flush mag over the extended mag with the shield. my pinky wraps right around the floorplate of the mag for a comfortable grip. on almost all other subcompact firearms I would always want to have the pinky extensions. also the the bore axis seems lower ok the shield and seems to allow me more positive grip.

help the XDS and it wasn't bad. grip didn't feel as good as the shield but the sites did look good. I looks like a gold buy but im not enough of a XD or .45 acp fan to want one.
