Hi gang,

I thought I would do a little thread on our favorite survival sheath set ups. Do you piggy back a psk, (personal survival kit), multi tool, fire starter, sharpener, smaller knife etc.

I know some people hate having things piggy backed, all eggs in one basket type of thinking which I agree with. But what the heck its fun to have a grab and go set. Even if its your car, bug out bag, or emergency rig that does not get carried everday.

P.s. they look [color:"red"] awesome in my opinion. And heck were here because we love knives and all the fun stuff that goes with em!!

I think it might be fun to see some other peoples rigs.

This is mostly for looking at the sheaths and psk's. If you post a pic of another makers knife in a kick butt sheath system thats ok but please no discussions of the knives. If you want to ask someone a question about the knife please follow the rules and do so in an email or pm. But as always talk away about any Busse kin blades!!

Ill start.

Here is one of my favorites by Chuddy Bear. It is a leather combo set that holds a Swamprat Ratweiler, ( a chopweiler also fits perfectly), a fero rod (not shown), altoid type case with psk, and a Swamprat Rat Warden.

I am going to have one of these made for my Scrapyard 711.

It is a dangler sheath and is comfortable to wear all day. I do need to get the leg strap from CB. Para cord binds too tight.

For a factory sheath set up this Model from Esee is very nice as well. It is the Esee 6 in standard sheath with molle back and pouch, (optional). A Esee Izula 2 is mounted on the sheath and the pouch holds a altoids type psk.

Here is the grail of sorts to alot of people. It is the Lost Mountain Iron Works
sheath. It is nylon with two pouches and came with two liners for different thickness of blades. It has a molle backing and belt loop and is a very secure rig.

Here it is with the Esee Junglass

Two pouches can hold altoid tin size cases, multi tools, etc.

Busse NMFBM and Esee Junglas thickness, this sheath can handle both.

By adding a pull loop of paracord it greatly assists in getting the tins out. It can be hard sometimes. They are not going to fall out!!

And here is a close up on the patches that came with it, this one is the special edition that came out.

Its a shame they dont make them anymore. But with the esee molle system you can add to most kydex sheaths and add your own pouches.

more to come, hope you like it and,,,,

I showed you mine, now you got to show me yours!!

I'm realy interested in the preferences of the Pound memebrs when it comes to leather vs Kydex vs nylon for knife sheaths. I got my first Kydex for the 911 and while the fit and form where outstanding, I still love the look, feel and smell of leather. I know that wet leather takes a long time to dry and is bad for the knife, but with all the postings of Rainwalker and now this Cuddy Bear sheath, I'm leaning back towards the traditional leather. Or is a kydex insert with a leather covering a viable option.

Opinions???

I had a nice explanation of the pics and the site timed out or something and I lost it. I don't know why this site seems to do this, it's happened a few times and it sucks.

Jeff - Sumo275 - and I have pretty much the same rig; a Lost Mountain Iron Works sheath with the double pockets, carried with a braided 550 paracord .

It's really a shame that Lost Mountain discontinued making their sheaths, as they are really nice. The double pouches enable me to carry a multi-tool, first-aid, fire-making methods, snare wire, and water purification tablets among other things.

I wish that I had been able to get in on the LWIW sheaths. Too bad they didn't make it.

[color:"red"]WAIT you got a 911? how did I miss out on that?

Kydex and leather are a good option but wet is bad no matter what. Some knives just deserve leather.

Wow, the Lost Mountain Iron Works sheath is a nice looker. Does anyone have a suggestion as to its replacement? I'm gathering from these posts that its no longer manufactured?

No its not. Last year I talked to the owner, a very nice gentleman who was in negotiations to bring it back again through a partner company. But nothing came out of it so far.

It is a great concept. I added more info on it in my original post. The only thing comparable would be the mole attachemts from Esee and adding your own pouches. Alot of people use Maxpediton pouches on them as well.

Well here's hoping that they bring the sheaths back. Oh in the 911 length of course!

See what these Scrapyard knives have done to me!!! I got 911 on the brain.

I should have said "I got my first Kydex for the 711...".
