Been tooooo long fellow Dogs, can't wait for Blade this year! A little Scarpyard content at the end

Hey everyone, snapped a few pics today of my new ASTK and Busse Zilla, wanted to do a little comparison between the two and do a unscientific review...

[Linked Image from i1010.photobucket.com]

They are roughly the same length and both have custom fitted handle slabs the ASTK weighs in at about 29 oz, while the Zilla is around 36-38 oz ( kitchen scale doesn't go that high)

The Zilla maintains the same thickness through the tang while the ASTK tapers quite a bit, and is a bit thicker at the spine than the Zilla

[Linked Image from i1010.photobucket.com]

Here's a shot of them stacked, you can see where the Zilla makes up it's extra weight

[Linked Image from i1010.photobucket.com]

Here's roughly where the ASTK sweet spot is, ( it extends a little in front of that spot as well) this is just the area where it goes in deepest with the least effort

[Linked Image from i1010.photobucket.com]

Here's the Zilla. The Zilla seems to have a larger sweet spot, maybe because it a bit straighter in that area, or just more weight due to increased blade height

Chopping some palm fronds

The ASTK on the first chop didnt go all the way through, this was the thickest part that I chopped though, I will have to try the Zilla on a similar piece tomorrow

Zilla, one chop

The ASTK, a little further down

Now, I shot of quick video of these two fine blades chopping, but I'm having issues changing formats, so I'll have to edit it and get it uploaded tomorrow

And here's a couple neat pics,( at least I thought so)

And dual wielding? Meh, I need an extra arm for Tri-wielding

Yeah
More info on the Scizzy! I remember you said you were gonna rehandle it, but I never saw the process or the finished deal.

How do you like it compared to the wrap?

Tell you what?! I propose to you a fair trade off: I take that Zilla off your hands in change of my swiss army knife: 32 tool in one knife! Slightly used. Mind you there are some minor defects. The scissors and the plyers don't really work, and the pen is out of ink... The pen is good for poking though!
I know you get the better deal, but that just the way I am.

Thanks guys! Been meaning to re satin the skizzy then beat the hell out of something with it, I think I'm going to do either a leather or para cord wrap at the guard It's one of those projects that I started and didn't take pics of and didn't think about it till afterward

Great pics! My ASTK is a chopping fool at 18 inches overall and 35 ounces. I love the work you did to them.
