While reading another post which had photos of several knives with the great Res-c handle and an ASH-1 in the shot , someone said "I'm looking at the ASH wondering what it might be like with a Res-c handle" . This really got me thinking (as the Busse ASH is on my WANT list) about how that might actually be .

What if our dumpster diving Dog made an ASH-1 with a res-c handle . Maybe 6 1/2" blade with a Double Cut finish , about .275" thick like the Scrapper 6 and Dogfather , a high saber or full flat grind and a new style Res-c handle that would resemble that of the ASH-1 . It would be one Pitt Bull of a knife .

I'd be first in line for one of those . What about the rest of you dogs ? Would anyone else like to see one of these from the Yard ?

As I mentioned in another thread I'd like a Scrapper version of the Skinny ASH. I think a 6" or 7" bladed Scrapper outta 3/16" stock would be the perfect camp blade....Planty tough enough for battoning, chopping and prying yet still thin enough to make a great slicer....could be the best Scrapyard blade to date !

If someone wants a sharpened prybar there is already the Scrapper 6, Yardhook, SOD and 711.....I'm thinking it's time for something fresh, a decent sized blade from thinner stock ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Wouldn't the full flat grind get you that thin edge but you could keep the thick spine?

Yeah a full flat would maybe be okay !

I still kinda like the idea of a 3/16" sabre grind though because they work better when battoning. Once the knife is in the wood up to the spine there is clearance around the rest of the blade, this is why the sabres split so good. My old Dumpster Mutt was the perfect splitting wedge.....just a shame it didn't cut half as well as it split or I'd still have it !

I would Love a SY ASH-1, but isn't the De-regulator handle about the same size as the ASH-1 handle? I don't think Dan would have to change much.

Also whats the blade width of ASH-1? It looks to be about 2"

MM

oh and 3/16" thick!!!

If you want a thin blade you probably won't be splitting much wood.
