...so I have previously used a heat gun to soften the sheets up but I find that a little inconsistent. Down at the shops and I scored a toaster oven for cheap. So my question is... what temps and for how long do I heat a sheet of .06, .08 and .093 kydex before squashing it around an object..????
  Thanks... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I vaguely remember some of the professional benders saying don't go above 350 or 375 F, I nk anything above that and the kydex starts releasing toxic fumes or something like that, I'm sure Al or Jeff will be along soon with a proper answer.

Andy, I think that JJ did a tutorial on just this subject. I know for sure he provided a link to a kydex manufacturer about this question. Just do a search and you should be able to find it.

I set my toaster oven at 375 degrees F, and wait for the edges to start to curl up. It won't take long for you to find a setting and get a feel for how long you need. It can get pretty soft before it begins to cook off.

Thanks very much guys.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Mrs Andy was asking why we needed a toaster oven (as I skulked back in from the shops)... I explained that "WE" didn't.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

My oven is set at just below 350 F. I let the plastic warm for about 5 min. this will vary a little from oven to oven but if the plastic becomes shiny you're getting too hot. Good luck!

Thanks very much mate, I also explained to the Mrs that I can always cook for myself in the Man Cave as well now... she pointed out that with the addition of the oven I could now actually LIVE down there.... !!!

Looks pretty good to me. Can't wait to see the final product.
