Greetings new user here, I've finally burst my cherry and am soon to be the proud father of a 711 I just wanted to ask other users which of your knives sees the most daily use? Also roughly what type of use (work, military, hunting, camping, zombie killing etc?) Hamish

Hamish, WELCOME! You are going to love Dan's blades and the folks here. We talk a lot of information (so if you have a question, don't hesitate to ask) and just chattering among ourselves. We also like to have fun. Just remember one of Dan's most important rules, This is a Family Friendly site and he wants it to stay that way. Other than that, IF you bring up other manufacturers blades, compare them to a Busse kin (Busse combat, Swamp Rat or Scrapyard) blade and you can almost rest assured you will be just fine.
Just read the rules and regulations sticky and you will fit in like you were born here.

Depends on your usage. for a Chopper, the King of the Heap is the DogFather, hands down.
For a medium size blade it's wide open. Some like the S5 (yard blade), others the Wardog (also a yard blade) or the RMD (Ratmandu, a Swamp Rat blade). Others like the Busse combat B4 or one of the other smaller blades.
Me, I like the 311 and Wardog (I don't EDC a fixed blade), but my faves are the 311 as stated, a regular production model. I also REALLY like my Muppy (Mud Puppy LE with my JYD number on it) but usually keep this more of a queen, but I DO carry and use it some.
For a medium length I like the Wardog. at .200 inch thick (flat convex ground) it sounds really thick but I've never been bothered by it.
Next up the rung the Regulator is a Site favorite ( I like the Bulldog regulator but it's a special edition so I don't use it as much).
For dedicated choppers, as stated the Dog Father from the yard. The Swamp Rat Rodent 9 (R9) is favored by a lot of folks. Myself I like my Busse combat BWM and will soon have a 911 that will probably replace the BWM as a user as the BWM is special to me because it was a gift. My Regulator and Muppy were gifts as well, but the Regulator is just so overbuilt that I don't think even a Nuke could hurt it.
So there you go, just MY thoughts, which in the overall scheme of things don't mean a lot as I don't "Get out there" like a lot of the other dogs. Just start reading what is written and you will figure out what will become YOUR favorites.

Welcome and enjoy your stay Hamish. I think you will find that quite a few people rotate their blades and also with the 11 series release the pecking order has changed. I know I am personally looking forward to the 911.

Welcome to the Yard, Hamish!
As for now the 711 is my favorite as a big knife. Midsized I really like the Rodent 4 from swamprat. They don't see daily use, since I am an optometrist, and don't use knives there. Except when my customers really act up. But when I go to the woods they perform perfect for camp chores.

Hamish...Howdy and Welcome to the Scrap Yard! I have been carrying my 7-11 almost all the time...but I live in a rural area where I can carry anything I want. I absolutely LOVE the 7-11, and use it for cutting branches and such on my ranch, as well as opening letters.

Welcome Hamish.
I have to admit my Leatherman gets used the most at a rate of about 5-6 times a day. Mostly opening boxes and screwing stuff.
My Wardog gets the most use in the field.

Welcome! +1 for the Chopweiler. It's an all time all around favorite. The 7-11 is so good, though, that I bought two
For large choppers, the Dogfather and the Bushwhacker Mistress. I have a Rat Mastiff, but haven't been able to bring myself to use it yet.
Medium blades? Ratmandu, Street Scrapper 5, and/or the War Dog. If only the WD was a little thinner, it'd be the one--hard to get/keep a really sharp edge though due to the blade geometry--anyone try to thin it a bit? Will the Yard thin it?
Small blades? I regularly EDC a Swamp Warden and often carry the Rodent Solution and/or the Hairy Carry LE in the field when hunting (although my Gerber Freeman in S30V, Buck Zipper in BG-42, Buck Vanguard in CPM154, and KOA Alpha Wolf in S30V also frequently vie for that spot--there's plenty of deer to go around though ).
