Welcome to the Yard Hamish, and Congrats on the 711!

As far as Busse kin that I use most... Well the 711, 311, WD have been getting a lot of use, for sheath making, along with a few others. As far as actual cutting task go my DFLE, NMFBM and RMD are some of my favorites.

I had a really hard time picking between the 511 & 711 (almost decided to get both, but was concerned about not giving them equal attention.)
I'll definitely look out for something like a Dumpster Mutt, War Dog or Scrap Muk next time.
I'm also aware I will wish I'd got a 311, 511 & 911 to complement the 711 when it arrives!
Any one have any thoughts about different uses for a 511 vs 711 blade? (Or generally between medium and large blades?)

My favorite Scrap Yard blades are my DF CG & LE and the Scrapmuk. My favorite users are the Busse Basic 11 and Basic 4.

I plan to order a 3-11 and 9-11 soon, so I think they will become favorites. I still think the Dog Father will be the king of the yard, but the 9-11 is sure to be a hit.

Congrats on your 7-11 and welcome!! I think you made the right choice by ordering the 7-11 over the 5-11. The 7-11 will be more versatile. Don't get me wrong, I like the 5-11 a lot, but I prefer to carry a large and small blade combo.

Welcome Hamish!

I love that character in Brave Heart! Nothing like a true and loyal (yet fierce) comrade!

I work in an office, but now live in a rural area so I have two types of daily use knives depending on if I'm in the city (work) or country (home).

For work I keep a Scrapivore in a small emergency kit as well as a Yard Keeper LE in a backpack. I also pocket carry a Spyderco Delica4 because Bussekin haven't released a folder since I've been buying their products (5 years now).

At home it depends on what I'm doing. While working outside a good 5" to 7" fixed blade is a constant companion. For these roles I typically use one of the following: Scrapper 5CG, Regulator, SOD or Swamp Rat RMD. There are times I also carry a Swamp Rat Rodent Solution as I find a smaller blade to be better for "detail work".

If I ever have to fight zombies off my land then you'll most likely find a Swamp Rat Chopweiler or Busse NMSFNO strapped to my hip. If the zombies pushed me off my land you'd find a Dogfather with a companion Swamp Rat Warden in place of the Chopweiler or NMSFNO.

Good selections and good combos Arch. Course wouldn't expect anything less from our resident Pro!

Hope you and the Wife are both doing well and enjoy this Holiday.

Flux, you've got TWO Dog Fathers! I can just see the wood chips flying now as you carve your way two handed through the impenetrable light deadening snake infested foliage of the hedge around your place!

Have a good Holiday my friend.
