On this, what will give birth to the first day of the Memorial Day weekend, I hope you all have a very happy and safe holiday. Eat, Drink and be Merry, but PLEASE act responsibly. The safety of others is in YOUR hands. Don't betray that trust that has been placed in you, at home or on the road.
Watch your children and keep an eye always open for those who will not act in a safe and trusting manner.
And Have another rib for me! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I guess you might say we have a strange way of honoring those who have gone before.
But I always think of those who have been in combat zones, where they truly HAVE risked all for us to enjoy the lives we have.
Thank You guys and Gals, for your dedication and willingness to go in harms way.

I will be at the shop for the next three days getting everything ready for Blade...but I will make sure that I take the time to lift a glass to all Dan

Never forget the men and women who gave their lives so that we could have our freedom. Hooker, thank you for reminding us what Memorial Day is really about. Barbecues are great, but I ask all to take a moment during your festivities to raise a glass of your favorite beverage and give a toast to those who have have served and especially those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. I am not asking you to make a speech, just a moment of silence will do. Then, of course, have fun. I say this after getting news this morning a friend of mine, a soldier, lost his life in the line of action. He didn't die down range where he received his wounds, but in a hospital in Bethesda with his family by his side. He got a chance to say goodbye, which is more than many get.

Wow JJ My thoughts go out to you. We don't have memorial day up here, but I will take a moment in remembrance and thanks for all the men and women in the free world who have and are putting themselves at risk for us. And for those that have paid the ultimate price I don't think that we can thank or honour their memory enough

JJ, sorry about your friend. But I would say he went the best way, Dedication and duty, willing to pay the price for what he and we believe in and then being able to say goodby to loved ones. If you have to go early, in a tragic way, being able to say good bye......

As I began to write a reply on what I feel is the true meaning of Memorial Day, I realized that I don’t possess the writing talent to convey those feelings to those that have never lived the life or been closely associated to those that we honor on this one day of the year. The sense of loss, frustration, terror, boredom (lots and lots of boredom), camaraderie, and pride that are part of the everyday life of a Soldier/Airman/Seaman/Marine that serves in a war time environment is difficult to describe in words. Perhaps the best course of action would be to say thanks to the serviceman and women, but save your prayers and comfort for those that truly bear the brunt of their sacrifice, the parents, spouses, and the children.
Remember this: Everytime I blink, you disappear.
