I went out with my buddy and fellow forum member Satsumatengu today and as promised took some pics of his awesome new Rodent 4 ! I figured I'd take a couple of my Rats along to give you some comparison pics. First off the Rodent 4 in it's custom sheath from the talented Rainwalker ~ ![[Linked Image from i910.photobucket.com]](http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac306/Pitdog_2010/008-001-4.jpg) ST was really impressed with the type of tec-lok used by Rainwalker ! ![[Linked Image from i910.photobucket.com]](http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac306/Pitdog_2010/009-001-1.jpg) As you can see ST has added some extra stuff to the sheath, hopefully he will add to this post and tell you more about that. A in-hand shot, that's ST's hand.......mine are a lot prettier !:D ![[Linked Image from i910.photobucket.com]](http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac306/Pitdog_2010/007-4.jpg) And a pic of it next to my M6 and SwampWarden ~ ![[Linked Image from i910.photobucket.com]](http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac306/Pitdog_2010/006-001-1.jpg) The Rodent 4 is great sized knife, the balance feels awesome and the ratio of blade to handle length seems just right. My Ratmandu is pretty much my idea of knife perfection but the Rodent 4 gives it a real run for the money ! I've read some posts where some people were a little unsure about the handles on the Rodent line, for what it's worth I thought the handle felt great. The odd shape just seems to melt into your grip, I like it !

That's awesome, Pit. Thanks for sharing bro.
Really dig that sheath!! Curious what all mods he made to it.

Great photos, guess I will start off by thanking my good friend Pitman for all of his work on this as well as the good people at Swamprat and Busse Knives. The Rodent 4 is a great knife, i really can't say this any other way. If you are on the verge getting this blade I highly recommend you just do it! You will not regret it. It is well thought out and designed, great balance and the handle- wow, it literally feels like it is a part of my hand, I love it. I had the sheath custom made for my blade by Mr Jeff Law at Rainwalker and I will definitely be a return customer, he is not only a good man but a great American craftsman and I am proud to carry his work with my knife. Ishikawa, you asked what mods I made to the sheath. To tell the truth they are not my mods but go back to my time in the USAF. When I took the combat survival training the SERE instructor was talking to me one day and mentioned how he likes to take some copper snare-wire and wrap that around either the handle or the sheath of his knife, as well as as much paracord as he could. Every since then I have turned my knifes into mini-survival kits. Aside from the knife and the ferro rod I have wrapped this sheath with about ten feet of copper wire, an equal length of five pound fishing line, three small fishing hooks and three sinkers, this is held in place by a ranger band, over this is wrapped a single thirty six foot length of 550 paracord and over that is are another two ranger bands. I will be adding two larger sized sewing needle and one fine one as well as a little sewing thread. I have an additional twelve feet of 550 with the knife lanyard and the black paracord attached to the bottom of the sheath was placed there by Rainwalker and while I have not untied it, it appears to be about equal amount to the knife lanyard. The basic idea is if I find myself lost or alone with just this knife I have nothing to really worry about. Hope you enjoy!

Congrats on your R4. Got one my self, and I love it. I am in the wait for some Rainwalker leather pants for it, which will make even more sweet!

Great pics.
I wanted to like that knife soooo much...love the profile, size and grind- but the handle just wasn't for me.
On the plus side, I don't really lack for knives in that size and all that I have are awesome blades!
