With a thick knife, you can always thin out the edge some and it really helps a lot.

Of course you don't notice the problem a thicker blade may present on one that is really wide and flat ground.

Aff, why don't you put "Michigan" in you profile so folks will have an idea what part of the world, the country you are from. You don't have to list any thing specific, just a general area. For me at least it helps get a perspective on what kind of territory the knives might get used in.

most of the time i have a thinner blade in the maxped bag or i use my folder if i need a slicer .
