I now look at it as large knife + tomahawk, rather than large knife or tomahawk/hatchet

The Nessmuk trio is a well proven combination in the field.

So you replace the chopper with a Hawk?

My thoughts about it are take both....There isn't much that a large knife and a tomahawk can't handle.

A 5" belt knife like the 511 would be a good backup in the event of you getting separated from the chopper or tomahawk.

Large knife + tomahawk + 5" belt knife seems hard to beat in my mind. If you had a necker I would throw that in as well as it weighs virtually nothing.

I'm trying to keep down weight. I carry a Leatherman's, a 4-6" fixed blade, the Sven Saw, and a 911 in the future. If I were car camping, an axe is a nice luxury.

SYKCO 911 + Kill Devil + 511 + Scrapivore = less weight than an axe...
