Disclaimer: I have no problem chopping down trees or making fire wood with an axe just because I'm better at fencing with a rapier instead of a sabre, amigos! Do you carry an axe when hiking? Just in case .. i'm thinking survival here .. when bad things happen. ![[Linked Image from img.photobucket.com]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v495/coyotebc/Marble2.jpg) when hiking this and a folder or multi-tool is all that I usually carry, no axe or hatchet

ELMAX is cool, stainless is good on the small stuff. It is brittle and cannot take tons of abuse. I do not think the ELMAX knives are warrantied like the others.

not long a got I decided to get a bowie in the style that Jim Bowie would use so I did some internet research. The Sheffield style dates to app. 1850 and most "bowies" today follow this pattern.

Actually I really would like the blade profile for the 13 inch FDM to be the shape of my Negrito Hunting bolo. THAT would make for a GREAT Zombie Whacker! I just googled the Negrito Hunting bolo; looks like a big "bowie". Is yours slim ie 1/8 thick? Nope, 1/4 inch thick. Have you seen the pic of it? It's basically the Case bowie (9 1/2) blade. The blade gets wider as it gets nearer the tip. I saw a pic. It was referenced with Philippine knives. I though it might be 1/8 because it might have been an all purpose knife like for slashing trails and hunting. Is it strictly a hunting knife? Would it work for boar hunting (pig sticking)? I think it is just a name they put on it to sell it to American GI's. I guess you COULD pig hunt with it, but I think there are better blades for that. I would personally want a slimmer blade so it would slip in between the ribs easier or between the front legs and up into the chest cavity severing the heart and or arteries and veins into and out of the heart.
