The only semi-auto I own is a 12 guage that was a gift
As far as fundamentals go a bolt action or single shot is the way to go imo

For lever actions I recommend Henry. Nothing is smoother.

Sounds good so far.

Recommendations on a good bolt action? I guess magazine fed or you think single shot...
That I don't know, I haven't looked at getting a new 22 in years, just make sure you get a rifle intended for adults and not youths

I bought myself a bolt action marlin with a tube magazine. It'll shoot 22lr,22 long, and 22 short. I've been very happy with it. Stainless and synthetic too!

As for fundamentals I was a [censored] good shot with everything I touched.

that being said I havnt shot a gun since 1992 lol.

So yeah I guess a lil fundamental work cant hurt.

I knida wish we did more long range stuff in the Army. I got to hitrting the 300 yard targets every time and way to easy.

Ok, stepping up in size/power.

The 38spl/357mag is a good concept, and actually pretty smart only needing one caliber for supply/resupply.

WHERE, in what kind of environment do you live. Apartment, condo, house? How close are your neighbors? How heavily populated is the area where you live. IF THE handgun/rifle is for personal defense, you MIGHT want to rethink stoking them with the Magnum round. OVER PENETRATION! That is a very valid consideration. Ideally get yourself a Taurus Judge (45 colt and .410 shotgun round out of the same weapon). The 45 is nothing to sneeze at for hunting or self defense. The .410 is a good home defense round in a place with thin walls where you need to think about over penetration.

1903 Enfield. Good luck finding an m14. Best to just get a Springfield m1a. Not cheap though.

The 45lc is a fine round especially if you intend to handload

At normal range where you are justified in taking a life with a weapon, the .410 (5 rounds in the Judge) is formidable. We humans are usually not that hard to stop/kill, specially at 10 yards or less.
