I have has several of the 5 inch USAF "Survival Knives" EVERY ONE of them broke on me. As for the Kabar I can't speak. I only got one about 8 years ago and it has been in my drawer ever since. Never even cut anything with it. Guy was needing some money so he got 25 bucks for it.

I think it's safe to say that many non-busse blades will break at some point under hard use/abuse.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

My understanding of Kabar is that the bean-counters have decided that cheap chinese garbage is what their customers deserve....

The old Kabar's were good. Don't know about what they call ka-bar these days. Mine is one of the older ones. Guy said he carried it in Nam, but I don't know if I really believe him or not. He also said that the "Build up" on the blade was blood. Hence me being doubtful of his word. But you can tell it is one from back a ways.
