I think it was said the original Blade Scrapmax blades are 0.090 thick and the 340 and 460 are 0.095 thick.

I got them too, and while nice, the choil is a big bummer for me. the smaller blade is nice, but really not that much different from the scrapavore but with a choil. the larger one is nice too, kinda like a mora bushcraft triflex, but with a choil that hurts a lot of the usefulness... for me at least. The handle is very nice and especially with the finger guard I really don't understand why those choils keep showing up. I get that the blade says SYKCO and not damonkco on it, but sometimes I feel like the bussekin choil on small blades is the knife-world equivalent of obamacare (something that looks good on the outside but no-one who actually works really wants). Maybe I am off, and maybe Elmax is really great stuff (first knife I have had with it). But my first impressions leave me thinking that I'll likely sell these off as well, which is a bummer for me as I could see how both blades would have had outstanding potential as a game processors w/o that silly choil. still love that Scrap Muk though as the ultimate processor! again, one man's initial view, take it FWIW. I hear ya. No Choil would've been cool, but I tend to rarely get up into the belly of the blade while processing game such that the choil would cause any problems for me. I am confident these will excel for me...much more than a Muk of any sorts (I just personally can't "work" a muk, the swept back blade profile just screws with me...it's a personal thing). Still TBD if they'll offset the Gene Ingram's, but surely they will having the leading edge in PTPR.

I've used ELMAX a lot, and it is the main draw of these knives, other than how thin they are behind the edge and overall, and the handle which is great. If I could change anything on these max's it would be the small choil. I wouldn't add a larger choil, I would simply have the cutting edge go right to the res-c.

eloreno, WELCOME! Glad you chose to join us. We're really a friendly pack, full of information and hot air! (Well that crazy squirrel anyway) So pick a thread and give us your 2 cents or join us in the ZDC where it's legal to talk about anything that is family friendly. If you wouldn't want your 8 year old seeing it don't post it! We like to joke around and actually pass around a lot of information. We run to all walks of life and several countries. We've got someone in a multitude of professions, so chances are if you got a question someone can answer it or point you in the right direction.

KalEl, Sorry I haven't welcomed you yet. WELCOME to the Yard! I hope you like it here as much as we do, this place can become like a second home, a comfortable place to relax with friends and shoot the breeze (in the ZDC) or chime in on any thread and give us your opinion or ask your questions. Like has been said, not much is off limits as long as it is G rated. You'll get the hang if it and it will become like your favorite bone.

Well, I feel stupid! I didn't notice that there was a difference between the Blade ScrapMax and the 340.
On another note, I just received a shipping notice on my 460.
