Can anyone tell me why Scrapyard is using square choils on the 11' series?

I thinks it's easer to punch/ cut a sqaure rather then the half circle. this means cheeper remember pice to preformence ratio. And it just plane works. That's the big one.

Maybe it gives it the size or length they are after, without reduceing the blade height in that critical area, thus weakening it.

I don't think they are punching these holes. I think they are all ran on a cnc. Plus if they were punching these the effort is still the same. All all that changes is the punch/die. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> It is an interesting question.

The blanks are probably cnc plasma cut, or water jet cut from sheet. Profiled on cnc mill, heat treat, coated, then sharpened.

Can't swear to it but I thought someone said that maybe it is developing a look like Jerry's talon hole.

the round choil is easier to machine from what i have seen. maybe because the round choil is deeper Dan thinks that the square shallow choil keeps the blade width larger there for stronger. or maybe he just likes being different from the kin.
