I would personally want at least a 4 inch blade, but it that is outside the law (even though I don't agree with it) to stay out of jail the 311 is better than no knife at all.

Here in OK it has to be 4" or shorter and not concealed, but then if you are in one of the 3 big city's chance are someone is going to call the police. In rural area it is not so bad, we say it is for work /ag or hunting. In November we ill get to have open carry of firearms if you have a CCW permit. For me that is great when I am anywhere except the city--I don't want to be a target and I have no intention of using my retirement money to be a poster child. Funny thing is I can carry a pistol legally but not a auto knife. Californian's supposedly can carry a sword but not a gun.
I also find it interesting that some of the countries with Viking/Teutonic/Norman/Celtic heritages are the most limited on what they can carry1

Your country is founded by people who left countries with those heritages, including Denmark. They left, in part, in order to leave restictions and start a new. Same reason I consider leaving Denmark now, and head for the US. Our country is REALLY old, and therefore politicians have had much more time to limit our freedom. On the other side we have other benefits: No poverty (unless you chose to be poor), healthcare for all and students get paid to go to school. But still; we should be able to carry what we want. Just think how strict our gun laws are!!!!!

As far as this topic goes, it isn't the law that matters so much.....
It the jury of 12 that will be judging whether you deserve to be locked up or not. Eventually yes. I'm not saying it is right but I believe it to be true just because a jury says you are not guilty later does not mean you will not spend a night or two in jail because a police department's supervisor or officer interprets the law that way. Knife laws in Ohio are incredibly vague and it comes down to case law in your area for a lot of it. No one carries a fixed blade in my area. Concealed it is illegal. Open carry and in public, outside of wearing hunting camo during season, and someoen will call the police. A CCW in Ohio does not translate to knives at all. I wish the Busse clan would get with Hinderer and Blind Horse Knives and put their weight behind getting the Knife Rights folks to change the laws here.

I read an article once where allegedly Scotland was trying to outlaw all knives with points because folks were stabbing each other. I'm not making that up it was an actual article with proposed legislation.

Doesn't Great Brittan already have a law something like that, or is it France?

Making pointy knives illegal won't make people who stab other people say; "oh well, I guess stop stabbing people now". Stupid!
