The mongo would be nice, but I AM NOT paying $160.00 dollars for it! The Jumbo would work for me I think. I am just looking for something to take on small 2-4 mile hikes, usually without taking any food items Other than maybe a couple power or granola bars.

Right now I have a military web belt set up with two one quart canteens. There is enough room between them for my 2 quart canteen If I want to carry it too. I also have a camelback style 2 liter style water carrier but wouldn't want to carry that if I had the versapack. It I had (or get) the SS bottle, either the 40 or 64 ounce, it would go on the web belt and if I got the 64 it would replace both the 1 quart bottles.

You might want to check their gearslinger range, backpaks with diagonal strap so you don't have to take off to get into. And if you ask around here someone might have one they want to let go...

I've seen a couple gear slinger packs and just didn't care all that much for them. I thought at first I would love them, but I like the Murse concept better.

I switched to the bag for week days because the Kodiak was pretty much empty. But now I started to take food with me and the EDC bag is too small on some days
Plus with the gearslingers you can attach things to them, like the bottle carier, they all have one 'built in'. Or you can put a bladder in the back compartment...

I had in that compartment Esee Junglas, and on one occasion 711 & TGLB at the same time...

Yeah, a REAL nice sheath. And it's turning a nice brownish color too.

Hey Randy, I love my Maxpedition Malaga. Its in the gear slinger series. It is my edc bag and I don't go any where without it. The only thing you have to get used to is learning over with a one strap bag. I'm a big guy and the one thing I did just order is the Janus extension pouch. not sure how its going to work yet.
