Honestly...I really like both logos.
I think the original, or SYKCO works well on the front.
On the back...I don't want it to say "JYD"...I would prefer it as "JUNK YARD DOG #121"
Also, a simple statement etched into the back could also be awesome...straight from the Scrapyard Mission Statement: “performance first”

DAN, HELP!!! I need this thing quick!!!
It will be my new mosquito slicer...apparently I might need it sooner than I thought. I must protect my family!! West Nile is raising some eyebrows around here lately...so I'm gonna use the 1311 to slice and dice'em out of thin air. Gonna hurt trying to get the one that just landed on my foot...but, that's what prosthetics are fo!!
