I would love to Kayak the Keyes and parts of the everglades. Its just a different kind of pretty country. I am a mountain man at heart though.

It is all about perspective. I love Caribbean vacations, yet tend to take for granted how easily I can go camping/backpacking in our beautiful mountains for a few days where others have to make a vacation out of it.

What part of the state are you in MB?

I can never tell if my reaction to mountains is because I grew up so far removed from them and it's just something different, or that terrain just appeals to me on a subconscious level,

I'm actually planning a kayak trip into the glades soon, I want to plan a canoe camping trip at some point once the weather cools

So is my Dad. I'm just down below the hogback. It is amazing how much different the weather can be in the winter with that 1,000' vertical difference.

It makes a huge difference. Of course the front range is weird. Most of the snow blows by my place or at least blows off of it. I little bit north of me gets hit hard.

Between the mountains to the west and whatever passes, valleys and canyons are nearby make weather predictions almost as good as a dart throw weatherwise.

Kinda the same down here. I'm far enough South that the Palmer ridge affects the snowfall amount considerably. Many times the area I'm in gets some of the heaviest snowfall in the city. For similar reasons, there are some (fewer) times when we get the least. Sucks to be a weatherman in Denver! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
