Anymore trips with you girls planned? We are going to the mountains this month. May go to SC tomorrow to get some rockets for the 4th. Unfortunately, fireworks are illegal in St. Louis County. Dirty Commies.

Tell us about your area of Missouri, SS. I am in the suburbs of St. Louis. We are at the confluence of three large rivers. Lots of good farmland, rolling hills, and weather extremes. 100 degrees in the summer, occassionally subzero in the winter. I travelled down from St. Louis along the Miss. to Dyersburg, TN in 2002. Beautiful country. Thought about moving there when the girls are grown.

Back to the Flood. This is a NASA satellite picture before the flood. They red dot is downtown St. Louis, and the yellow is St. Charles.

So its the confluence of the Ohio, Mississippi and the Missouri? Mississippi, Missouri, and the Meremac. The Ohio comes in about 140 miles downstream. The Meremac flows from the Ozarks into just south of Downtown. THe Missouri comes in just North of Downtown. If you cut a trench just west of town we could be an island.

THere are vast flood plains around here. One of them is filled with the longest strip mall in the US. What a waste of good farmlannd.

THe MIssissippi was 50 feet above flood stage at its height in 1993.
