It's WAY colder here than normal. I'm talking 15-20 degrees below the average temps. I can't imagine what the fish are doing right now, but I haven't heard of any big catches.

Calling for temps back in the 70's next week, so hoping that I can do a little fishing soon.

Trout season comes in here the first Saturday in April, and I'll stay on the trout streams for a month or so after that. Then it's back to bank fishing for catfish and whatever else bites.

Of course, once it warms up I spend most of my spare time on the motorcycle.

It's awesome for crappies and walleyes. Smallmouth bass fishing is pretty good too, but largemouth fishing is just fair.

There are a FEW muskies and tiger muskies in the upper end of the lake, but it's rare those are caught.

They stocked Steelhead trout back in the 70's, but they didn't do well. I've heard of a few of them being caught in the past few years too, but I don't know if I believe it or not.

i figure I will stay at crappie until it they let up. go see what panfish I can catch and then do catfish and large mouth over the summer. i'm really wanting to get down in some of the swamp areas around rhe river and see what I can catch. will probably go for a gar or two just to see how they eat.

Dad used to catch gar down that Santee Cooper back in the 70's. He says they're pretty good eatin.

Best way to learn! Fishing is fun, but it's a lot of learning to do.
