I think what this sale is missing is a stipulation that you need to be a member for at least a week or so prior so that us loyal Dogs will at least have a chance. I know people are going to sign up for the forums left and right before the sale to buy a whole bunch (then immediately re-sell them), then never even visit us here. It makes it so normal people like us won't get their hands on it. No one ever said life is fair, but I feel like we're being marginalized when it would be very easy to change it so actual Dogs get first chance instead of the posers. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

If you are a member you can order the blade. if you are a JYD Dan will etch your number on it. Easy enough. You have a crack at it.

Dan states that you can buy as many as you want. They are not limited. Just order on Monday and you will get yours. Some of the newbies will stay, some will leave. So far most have been nice, and they will hopefully stay.

while I can understand the cause of the sentiment, I'm sorry to hear you post it the way you did. This is the sort of thing that will encourage some folks to only show up when there's something special to order.
Self-fulfilling prophecy, sort of like when Jerry opened up hog membership to anyone who owned a Busse knife, even if they had not shaken his hand at a show.
some folks grabbed up the offer and disappeared, some folks used it as a gateway drug to start a new knife addiction. some of the established HOGs spent so much time grumbling about all the new piglets they forgot what it means to be a hog/dog/rat.

I've been looking for a SYKCO blade that would fill a niche in my pile of users for a while -- this one really grabbed my attention.
so far looking around the site, I've seen a lot of good things, and I'm planning on hanging around to see more of them.

My understanding of this is that just because you can buy as many as you want, that doesn't necessarily mean there will be enough to go around for everyone.

I don't mind the fact that people will sign up just to get one as much as the fact that I know people will buy them just to re-sell them, when others who actually use the forums might not get a chance.

It will be truly awesome if Dan is willing to make enough blades to meet the demand, but that seems very unlikely to me at the moment. Never know for sure what's cooking in the Scrapyard steel kitchen, though, so my fingers are crossed. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Dan is very straight up. If its limited in numbers he generally lets us know. Will some choose to make a profit off of Dan's generousity? Sure. But I take it for the spirit in which it was given. Something nice for members and something special for those of us who hang around and post.

I don't worry about what the other guy does as long as it doesn't harm me I am good to go.
