Thanks the reason its all shiny is I melted beeswax into it to seal it up.

I'm always torn between leather and kydex.

For convenience sake I have been going with the latter.

Hands down the nicest sheath I own
Rainwalker did an excellent job on it and you couldn't get better retention with kydex

Below is a sharpshooter sheath for my favorite woods knife made circa 1936

No idea what happened to the original sheath, that old sheath besides the sharpshooter sheath came with the knife when I bought it 30 years ago, but it was not the original sheath
