So I got my FDM and KDH! Wow both keepers and excellent blades.

I picked up one of the Marbles sheaths mentioned in another thread. Very nice but I blew out the cheap stitching in the first couple minutes using it. After busting 3 needles in a cheap sewing machine trying to fix it I used a modified Speedy Stitch and some heavy thread to make it bombproof.

The sheath will just about envelope the handle of the FDM if you let it go all the way down. My triple cobra D-Guard helps with this. You can push handle and guard into the sheath and it will hold tight. When you need to bushwhack with it, it sits nicely on top. I added a Techlock to the belt loop for easy on easy off.











The KDH is sweet! Great feel and balance, can't wait to use it. I practiced wrapping it with the provided cord then went with some hi-viz orange. I like a forward lanyard for safety reasons and added one. When I don't need it, it tucks out of the way. The MC sheath is great and holds secure but allows for easy access. For those worried the rear retention strap isn't secure I pulled and pulled and the blade stayed in (see in last two pics below). If you pull back twist and push forward (I doubt this would happen by accident) you can remove it while the strap is still on.

The FDM carries well on the belt for such a big blade.

And no I am not pooping a dog out in that first picture.

I don't think it would need two straps. You could do one up front or one in the back. I am gonna play with one in front to see which I like better. But the one in back works great.

But please, I ask you to seriously re-evaluate your assessment on the ganza sheath. All you have to do is simulate (preferably by actually doing it yourself) what happens if you bump the handle of the KDSH into something hard like a downed log, a tree stump, a chair or even a vehicle before you rely on the retention system as sufficient. I don't want to see anyone injured out in the woods far from help like I almost was.

edit: No need to do start a new thread as Eric started one to make people aware of the fix and allow them to contact him.

In that second to last picture I pulled down and back as hard as I could and it would not release. I jumped and tapped it. Like I said I had to pull down and back twist a little then push forward to get the head to release.

I would like to hear your experience.
