These percentages have been excerpted from Pitmans thread "Choils.....Love em or hate em"

23% voted - No, "A choiled knife is a spoiled knife"
50% voted - Yes, but only on knives with a 6" blade or over
16% voted - Yes, but only on knives with a 6" blade or less
11% voted - Yes Choils every time

Take this for whatever it's worth, but there are plenty of us out there who want no choils....

What has a choil ever done wrong?
Most bussekin blades are big and long. It is not that we lack cutting edge...
+1 on choils here

I was only being facetious about buying Bark River, but I am serious when I say I will never buy another Bussekin with a choil.....

I can understand that, we all have features of tools we prefer.

The nice handle to blade transition is why I love my Vex so much !

To me, it is exactly in the mid range blades, 4-6", that I find the choil most usefull.
But this is the never ending debate... Each to ones own!

A wide, 3/16" thick, blade will be something new from the Yard. At least in the 6" range...

I think our Danish friend has spent too much time under water....

I too am starting to feel depressed about this choil discussion. I´ve said it so many times before and I say it again: handles are for gripping and blades are for cutting. When the cutting edge starts right from the point that the handle ends you don´t need a choil - do ya?!?

This really is a never ending debate. I´ve never understood your opinion about the choils in mid sized blades and I think I never will. All the same I will respect your opinion and I mean no offence with my writings. I think it would be great to have the option to choose if you want a choil or not. By the way; I liked the 1311 choil... In my opinion it was just the right size for a blade like that.
