They make one made to attach to wood stocks so as long as there is a good mounting surface you should be good.

Those both come in spacing for either 3.5" or 4" CTC b/t the studs. If your stock doesn't have any...just get the shortest one possible, and go to your hadrware store and swap the hardware for wood screws. This is what I did for my .22lr...works perfect.

I've got a .243 for my youngest <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Looking to install a light under the barrel. I'm a little leery of installing on top of the scope. Open to suggestions though <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I want a 375 H&H so bad, got the dies already but that is not going to happen for a while.
On the rail on the bottom, I cannot see any reason for adding one for me here in OK because we can't hunt at night, and for a bipod I shoot off the pack.

I had a Harris bipod on my model 70
Lasted less then one season before I took it off
Just didn't like it
