I need posts and thought some of you might be interested so I'm going to do a tutorial on making your own hammock. I used to be a ground dweller while camping, but try sleeping high and dry under a tarp with no rocks in your back!

Ill be back with pics and more info later. Anyone already converted?

Sounds like an awesome tutorial <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

What materials are you going to use and how much does the final product weigh/hold?

I have been a fan of hammocks for years. Used to be just for napping or in the field while I was in the Army.

Now it is my main form of shelter and sleep when camping.

I love hammocks unless it is in the single digits to teens of Fahrenheit.

I'm a hanger for sure. Best sleeping I've ever had. I have a War Bonnet Blackbird and several I have made. Easy to make. Taught myself to sew. Straight lines with a sewing machine is a no brainer. Best rest my bad back has EVER had. Also lightens and reduces the size of your kit. Not to mention increasing your choices of locations to set up camp.

I use hammocks on my Alpine Lakes trips. As long as the temperature are reasonable, a hammock is awesome. When it gets cold, I've added a sleeping pad and a sleeping bag. I use an ENO double nest with a bug net. I sleep with a 460V on my chest and it's all zzz's till hunting time.
