Thank you EVERYONE!
Bad news though, was told that there was MAJOR brain damage and the if he survives he will be nothing more than a body. We're talking feeding tube, and every bad thing normally associated along with that.
They don' know how long he will last but they either have or are going to take him off the ventilator I think. So it seems as if it is only a matter of time. Derek is taking it VERY hard, of course.
I'll let everyone know what ultimately happens, and again, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

I'm having mixed feelings about this...man. While I have sympathy for the son, watching a parent slowly slip away is a spirit crushing event, I also think this wife-beating-piece-of-crap is getting celestial justice.
So I'll pray for the son but at the same time find no compassion within myself for the father.
Remember this: Everytime I blink, you disappear.

Again, thank you everyone. Mastiff, I understand your feelings, believe me I do and so does Patty. But we , she more than I, have gotten beyond this after all these years. Oh the memories are still there for her but she has a better life now.
Anyway, moot point. The Family that was there all were in agreement and decided to remove him from artificial life support. He passed within the hour on 01-31-2013 at 1855. Patty is very mixed with her feelings and I understand that. The confusion is because of her son. If it weren't for him the passing would only (Mainly) be that of someone she knew.
The "Family" are not church folks, so Patty and I (Because of Derek, her son) have Volunteered to give them a "Funeral" dinner at our church. Patty and I are ONLY using the Church as a hosting place and everything will be provided for us. This is just something we feel we need to do to help gain "Closure".
Again, thank you to EVERYONE that sent words of encouragement and prayers/well wishes. The "Brotherhood of the Yard" truly is that.

Patty was much more accepted at the hospital (she wasn't there when the decision was made or when he died) me not so much. I think this is normal even though they know the reason she divorced him. Family is reluctant (usually) to take the word of someone NOT family.

Indeed the support overhere is great !!! Even manny of the dogs had never had the pleasure to meet each other. Next year I am going to make my first trip to the USA maybe a meet & greet on blade show would be great.

One last post.
Patty and I were successful. After checking with the Courthouse, finding and getting certified copies of his papers and delivering them to the VA Cemetery, I double checked today and they have approved him being buried there.
He will be buried in the Veterans Cemetery February 4th 2013 at 1100 with Military honors.
It might seem strange to some here that the Ex-wife and I, the New Husband wold do this for him, considering the reason she divorced him. We were asked to do what we could to make this happen by her Son, my Stepson. There isn't any way we could refuse. I am just thankful that we were able to accomplish this for the both of them.
And I want to again thank EVERYONE from all of us, for the well wishes, hopes and prayers during this trying time.
Randy
