Thanks for the help greaser. Has the yard ever offered a green handle? That would be sweet to see. Anyone else got any knives to show?

I think my first SYKCO, the S5 has a green handle, kind of hard to tell by the pic. I'll have to dig it out and look.

I went up the coast to the oyster farm and the little dog followed me for some work.

Looks like a guy would starve to death trying to open enough of those things to get a meal. IF one was inclined to eat them raw! I prefer mine dipped in batter and deep fried with some soy sauce.

A lot of people BBQ them on site. I only like them raw. Never tried them deep fried. I might have to try that.

Here's a coast video too that I forgot to add. This was yesterday. It was balmy 60 degrees.

Thanks for the vid Ireash, that's the shot I was looking for. those oysters look delicious too. i so envy the weather! I'm currently up in camp. -25 and 5 foot snow drifts. I swear I'm moving south first chance I get haha. Thanks again for the in hand shots. Hope my 311 doesn't take too much longer to get here. I already have pants for it on the way lol.

Woohoo, got my shipping notice today! 311 and dagger inbound. Good thing too, as I received the pants for the 311 last week and want to take the rig out for a test run (would look a little silly without a knife in it hahaha) now the wait begins, hopefully I don't get shipped out of town for the next couple of weeks. It would be lame if the knife shows up and I'm just starting another 3 week long camp (and I mean isolated) stint.

Super excited now!

On nights that are particularly cold, windy, or in tonight's case, rainy, I like to hike a few miles out into the woods with a knife and a magnesium/ferrocerium rod and try to start a fire. I do this mostly to keep myself sharp and make sure I can still do it. I choose nights with the worst conditions because I figure I should prepare for the worst conditions.

Tonight, it was plenty wet so I had to fillet a tree branch looking for that nice dry wood inside. I found the driest spot I could and turned up the dirt a little to dry it out a bit more. I feathered up some smaller sticks to make the finest tinder I could, shaved off some magnesium, and went to town on the ferrocerium rod.

And voila!

The 311 was the perfect companion. I never felt like I needed anything more.
