Off the top of my head, the blade of the T/W is 6 7/8" long and about 1 1/2" wide.

The reg is great, but I wish it wasn't .333" thick! .20-.25 and it would be perfect. The tip is strong as heck.

I am a person who had a original Tali but let it move on to a former Marine since it was a safe queen. I think the new Tali will not be enough like the original to worry about the original loosing too much value--only value lost would be someone who would buy an original and use it. As to the Ratweiller, well I will find out when they are released!

Thx SkunkHunter for the info, I hope you are right ! I personally think my Taliwhacker is the most important knife in my collection. I had a real hard time to get one, and it has some personal meaning to me.

But I probally buy me a new Taliwhacker as a user because the original one is a safequeen ;-) one of the only knives I don't wanna use.

is the Ratweiler really as good as they keep saying ?

Greets,
It is so cool that you have an original Taliwacker...there were so few avaiable. Maybe you or one of the other Dogs could share a pic Dan

I would be very interested in a taliwacker since I am going army 18x in april and should be on the front line for tali faceshooting in about two years. I need a midsize blade between the yardhook and the 511/DM.

A dumpster mutt would make a awesome knife for battle. It will pry open anything and cut and be useful for hand to hand if needed and easy to carry.

For combat I would lean toward shorter than the Tali-whacker in length. If it is for duty, it needs to be on your belt and a 7 inch (or plus) blade is more than you really want to carry because of getting in and out of vehicles and up and down on the ground. Stick to something NO LONGER than 6 inches. It will be a utility knife MUCH MUCH more than a defensive/offensive blade.
BUT as is said, and is very true, to each his own. If that is what you want, that is what you want.

Here are the specs (from the scrapyard knives spec thread)
DMCG (Dumpster Mutt Combat Grade)
Blade Length: 5.25
Blade thickness: .270
Blade height:
Overall Length: 9.75
Blade Grind: Saber
Steel type: SR77
Handle type: Black Res-c
Finish: Black Powder Coat
Weight: 9oz

Actually any of the DM variants would work.

I have one of the 50 mod7 dumpster mutts, actually one of the prototypes along with the fully serrated one coldone has. I don't think I could ever bring myself to use it. I also have a 511 that would be a solid choice.
I mainly want a taliwacker cause it's classy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
