Ok, so instead of wasting countless clicks refreshing the exchange, it would be nice to get some software I can run in the background that will simply refresh the BF exchange and email me (or sms) when a new thread is posted.

Does one exist or do I need to (ugg) program it myself.

you could always use the "subscribe to this thread" option. in "thread tools". set you notifications to send you email notifications.

that might get kind of annoying. most forums gave some type of rss feed built in and it's just a matter of finding it and adding it to some type of rss reader app. haven't looked at BF but since it's built on a up to date version of vbulletin it's probably there somewhere.

and the app they are talking about below "tapatalk" might will probably let you subscribe to particular sections of a forum. didn't care for the app myslef but it seems to be pretty popular.

lazi is right, the forum will email you with updates on the particular thread or category.

i use it for the busse exchange. i get one email with the day's new threads.

I see the option to get emails instantly under "general setting". i am setup as a gold member so dont know of that's why.

I too have gold membership and I see the instant option for individual threads.
I'm looking for an instant option for a whole subforum (eg busse an bussekin for sale by owner).
AFAICT there is only a daily or weekly email option for a subforum subscription

There was a web service that would ghost a forum with your credentials and send notification of new posts that meet your search criteria.

I had one of my guys write code to do this before. It was a simple search parsing app that ran on our own server.
