she was detained for more than 4 hours while their own policy states that breast milk is exempt from their normal practice of confiscation.

they don't even follow their own rules.

oh a side note:

earlier today i met up with a friend. i had to do a little grocery shopping and she said she didn't mind tagging along with me. i decided to grab a beer (one bottle) while i was there and during check out i was told they would need to see my friend's ID as well as mine. she didn't have her ID, although she is of legal age. i was told it was their policy to refuse my purchase. i can't understand how a single person can be denied a legal transaction, (one person, one bottle) on the basis of someone else's status while they have nothing to do with the transaction.

That is ridiculous, but they do have the right to refuse service to anyone.

i don't need to be policed by some idiot clerk who is younger than me and has no basis for the judgement.

I am not saying it is not stupid - just that it isn't illegal unless the decision was based on the demographic a person is a member of. (Civil Rights Act)

Don't blame the clerk unless he/she was lying about the policy. He was just trying to keep his job in a crappy economy. Blame the policy maker.

i'm not, but the company is giving a person who isnt qualified, the authority to make the call. which is a bs call. i don't care what they have to say in their defense.

I would not be happy to be denied a beer either. I feel your pain. I live in Utah.

i just see this as part of a larger issue which is a symptom of the nation.

i was making a legal transaction. if i decide to do something illegal with that beer after it becomes my property, then i should/could be held accountable for it. what business is it of the clerk's or company's? they've held up their lawful part of the equation and that should be it as far as they are concerned.

i could see it reasonable if i showed up with minors for the express purpose of buying a keg, that is suspicious. but where do you draw the line? maybe you shouldn't sell me a length of rope, a may strangle someone with it. what if i buy gasoline and burn myself alive?
