Maxped Condor 2 vs Falcon 2. Any thoughts on either one? Falcon seems a little more modular and I like the supersized version of it I got but open to suggestions. Anyone?

Is there any value to a 3-Day Assault Pack or for the size are you better off going with an internal frame pack. I understand the 5.11 Rush 72 hasa sheet with an aluminum brace, but not sure that quite makes the cut.

Looking for a small, medium, and large pack trifecta. I've got the medium pack now, along with a sling bag and a Fatboy (aside from myself). Maybe looking at a large one like the USMC ILBC too? Since no knives have been coming out lately I got sucked into packs

Falcon II is smaller. I like it for a pack to keep in the trunk of my squad. It has enough pockets and just enough room to take what I need into the backcountry for those unexpected trips when you can't plan for it.

If you need a little more room the Condor does the trick.

Just a suggestion, check out Mystery Ranch backpacks if you want to make 40lbs feel like 20lbs. I have been packing for 20+ years and I can tell you this, Dana knows packs like Jerry and Dan know knives!

I'm not real sure if I've asked this before, but here goes.

I have a Tactical Taylor 3 day assault pack that will hold a lot of stuff If I want it to. Feels really good and is my first "Quality" pack. BUT I think it is larger than I (Hopefully WE) need for just a morning or afternoon hike around Mingo or where ever. But if you think it would work out OK for the use(s) below let me know. Oh and I guess I should add I am 6ft tall, wear a 2X shirt. Nuff said.

What pack would you guys recommend for just a few hour, maybe half a day hiking pack to carry water, some food and maybe a stove of some kind and windbreakers/rain gear. I would have Patty carrying the Fatboy FAK I have made up.

I looked at the pigmy falcon II and it has a bladder storage (good for me) and dual 1 1iter water bottle carriers for Patty. Do you all think that pack would be to small? Should I be looking at something else (maybe bigger)? And it doesn't have to be "Bullet Proof" as it wouldn't be used in any "Rough" environments. I DO wish it had straps on the bottom so I could attach a Butt bag I got from Arch.

Oh and YES, probably unfortunately, I'm Cheap.

I'm just looking for something to toss in the truck and load up with water and food maybe if we think we may go on a walk.

i was gonna recommend the maxped sitka, but that's even smaller than the falcon ii.

but as an aside, the design has been knocked off quite a bit and can be found dirt cheap. there is a company called red rock that makes a lot of tactical clones. i picked up one to check out the quality and it's decent for the price.

I have pretty extensive experience with products from Tactical Tailor, SpecOps Brand, MaxPed, London Bridge, Eagle Industries and Blackhawk.

Since DT asked about MaxPed's - my general comments are:

1) They are very well made.
2) They are smaller than advertised.
3) The pockets always seem to be slightly too small for what I want to do with them.
4) The material is too stiff which makes "stuffing" them difficult.

I've had several different MaxPed packs, and only have a Jumbo now (had two and sold the one I tested...the new one is hanging on the back of my closet door and will never see any use. It'll eventually be sold).

I prefer Tactical Tailor packs. I have had a couple dozen of them, and they've never given me any problems.

I've been thinking hard about getting a pack for a few years, but I'm just so wishy-washy I can never commit to buying a specific pack. I love the utility of the military style packs, but I feel that military looking gear draws too much attention. People see someone with military looking gear and think that person must be prepared, and if I find myself in a bug out scenario then I just want to look like a guy that doesn't have anything that anybody wants.

I think I've decided on the Kelty MAP 3500. It was designed by SEALs and if you don't pick a tactical color it looks inconspicuous. Here's a good review. Tons of pics, so beware.

Before that I was looking at the 5.11 Covert.

i have been looking at the tactical tailor urban operator for something that that doesn't look overly tactical. looked at that kelty bag inthe reviews and it looks interesting.

bought a ape cases camera bag for $20 and I'm trying to figure out some preferences before i invest in any more money in to a pack. i will probably use this one for the car once i figure out the gear i want to keep handy.
