In case your curious, here's the guy who let me use his rifle. http://thompsonlongrange.com/

He's a good guy I have known for a year, but he was a little skeptical of what a Marine and a rifle could do. I think he thought I was going to ask for some free classes after missing. I burst his bubble by not missing.

That was at 790 yards. We drove off onto Mark's land and chained the target to a fence post. We used a range finder to get the distance.

1/2 steel plate target and that rifle almost punched through at that distance.

Hah! That set up is worth about as much as my car!

In New England...a 200 yard shot is like a mile. shocked

Wow!

Weatherbys are good rifles. I have two and my brother has one. One of them was a birthday gift from my mom to my dad in 1980. Chambered for .257 Wby Mag, it's a flat shooter.

It's a custom made gun using a hand-loaded 30-378 Weatherby Mag. cartridge. There's something about a rifle that kicks like a 223 but still sends a 200 grain round out the barrel at 3,400+ fps and producing 4,600+ ft/lb of force.
