Older one. I think that our laptop and PC is confusing the "master controller" or somedthing! Now the laptop works but the PC doesn't.

The older ones are a thing of beauty. If you find one in good shape buy it. I was looking at the wood on the new Marlin/Remington 30/30's. Thye looked really bad. Almost a blonde wood.

Which one would you prefer for general hunting rifle: Winchester 70 or Remington 700, both in 308win? I donīt have specific models in mind.

I like my Rem 700. The older Win 70's are great rifles.

LOL, Timi the color of the wood has to do with the type and sometime quality of the wood. This was very poor wood with a wide grain and obviously wan't a Walnut which is one of the hallmarks of Marlin lever actions.

I have a thing about having quality wood for a rifle stock. I like older walnut with a nice thin grain. The tighter the grain on a hardwood usually the better wood and harder. A good quality old growth walnut will last a few lifetimes.
