I am guilty of rejoicing just because my commanding officer reminded me we have a three day weekend. My first thought was selfish. I thought about all the playing I can do in three days.
Then I left work and remembered I needed to drop off my late grandfather's medals, burial flag and other military memorabilia at the frame shop for a shadow box.
He didn't die in war, but he definitely sacrificed a lot. POW twice, experimental plastic knee cap replacement by the Nazis and 30+ years in the Army Air Force and Air Force.
I will spend Monday outdoors with my grandfather where he loved to be, under the sky, not a roof.
