We used to have them but all we have now are the frozen burgers in the grocery store. Still better than most of the fast food burgers.

I like White Castles, but ONLY periodically.

IF I remember right, they were the first fast food joints. (Or maybe it was chain).

Another place like W/C is Crystals If I remember correctly.

He loves the outdoors. He just became an Eagle Scout last year and the major reason he stayed in the Scouts was the great camping trips and the white water rafting he did with the Venture Scouts.

Tell him I said CONGRATULATIONS! It's not easy making Eagle. I timed out at Life. Haha course this was back in the LATE 60's.

I think you are right. I used to go to the White Castle in town when I was in High School. There were no Mc or Burger Kings here then.

In the largest town here in Southeast Missouri WAY back when I was a kid the only Fast Food Joint was a place called Burger Chef. Sorta like the forerunner of Mickys. Back then they already had the burgers made up and setting on an inclined pan with slots for different burgers.

The first time our family saw a fast food burger joint was on one of our periodic trips to Alabama. It was in the south but I don't remember the state. It was a Burger Chef and the hamburgers were 5 cents and the fries were 3 cents. By the time they came up north, the burgers were 8 cents and the fries were 5 cents.

My parents really loved the Burger Chef because they could get a meal for the four of us for under a dollar.

Yeah, I kinda wish for places like that again. They had character. Folks actually seemed to care back then.
