First post in about a year I had computer problems and a very hectic work schedual for the last year 5-7 12 hour nights a week. I fianly got some days off toghter and decided to go spring fishing in a honey hole that my cousin showed me years ago. It was an over cast morning but just a little drizzle off and on. long story longer we started fishing buy 0645 am and buy 0700 I fell into the fast moving very cold creek. I jumped out and my buddy instantly started to check me over and get ready with his bivy bag and we looked for a place to start a fire!!! We found a flat spot with a burn pit already to go and got to work. Rick used my pocket chain saw to cut good size logs and I used the 711 to baton them down. of course the rain just started the to come down in sheets along with sleet which made me even more comfertable! After my clothes got half way dry and it became clear thet the rain was not going to let up we decided to load up and put my clothes and cut a hole in the top of the bivy so I could wear it like a robe, We ran the 2 miles plus to the car and I made it out. The most imprsive thing is the 711 Was pounded through a lot of very knotted wood with out blinking an eye! My buddy r\Rick said he has to have one now and has been drooling over the 911!! i expect he will order soon! sorry for such a long post but I love this knife.

It's stories like that that do nothing but instill confidence in Dan's blades.

Im Still in awe of how well the blade did, my arm was sore for two days from batoning for so long. But the knife was only a little duller. Amazing!

SR101 in Dan's simple but functional design is a great combination. I'm glad to hear that things turned out well.

Great fishing story and glad that your ok. Hyperthermia is a silent killer and it pays to be prepared in the great outdoors. Lets here some other good ones.

I'll kick off the second one.

The wife and I were in WY last summer and we were staying in a motel just outside Laramie. I had my fly fishing gear and decided to venture out and head up into the Medicine Bow wilderness area. Well everything went great the first day and returned without incidnet. The time frame is Aug. and there was still some snow in the mountains making the glacial lake I was fishing very cold. So here we are the second day and the wife tells me that her friend wants to learn how to fish. Mind you, I'm all ready packed and heading out the door before I'm stopped dead in my tracks by this request. Well I'm thinking this is a vaction for the two of us and I turn and tell her to call her friend and we will meet at the Conoco gas station /fly shop /gun shop / deli / pastry shop. This by far is one of the greatest gas stations I have ever been in. So we meet at the station and I tell the wife to pick up a hoodi for her and her friend. The temp in the area where we heading are around mid 60's. We finaly reach our destination, and dogs, this place is gorgeous. I get her friend set up with an old spinning rod she had with a worm on the end, and bang, right off the bat she lands a nice 12" cut throat. I'm excited to start tossing flies and tell her along with my wife be very carefull on the rocks and don't wade, stay on the bank. Dang, no sooner am I off doing my thing when I hear this big splash and I turn to see what's going on and I see this friend of ours with pink hoodi floundering in the water. I about bust out laughing when I realize how cold the water is and she has no change of clothing. The mind starts racing thinking this is the end of the day and its only 10:00 AM. Well being the prepper kind of guy I am, I turn to my bag and whip out extra clothing for the occasion.
