DT, not being all the familiar with the LDS I am assuming it was John Smith the started the "Prep" part of your faith. It would be nice if more folks ascribed to this, if nothing else. Close Randy. Joseph Smith Self reliance has always been a part of our faith since the get go (by necessity if nothing else) but not sure exactly when home production and a year's supply started to really be stressed as specific issues.

It's always good to be prepared for whatever problems may come your way. Whether or not you believe in possible politically related disasters, you should still be concerned about Nature's own variety of disasters, whether it's tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, fires, ice storms, severe winter or summer weather, etc.

It's a form of insurance really. Except when the bills are payed you still have something tangible in your hands.

Not to mention personal economic disaster. Unemployment is still around 10 percent in actual terms. If you lose your job it's nice to know you can still be ok for a while until you can get back on your feet...which in today's economy could be easily a year or longer.

The "end of the world" can take on many forms globally, at the national, state, or community level, or individually. Always good to have a backup plan.

Ok, JOSEPH Smith. Sheesh, I was only a few letters off. Sorry, I knew it was Joseph, but typed John.
