It IS nice Bill, but it was not luck that got me here. Many years of working long, lousy hours and MUCH frustration brought it about. Fortunately, my wife was totally on board with the idea of leaving the greater Chicago area to moving out to the country. wink

I hear you Pauline and I plan to retire in the interior when my working days are over

I agree with you Bill on the 450 marlin. I was looking at the old Marlin 1895 XLR with a 24" barrel, but I didn't like the idea of the rifle being built in conjunction with the Hornady LeveRevolution cartridge. I read of many problems feeding and ejecting other .45-.70 rounds.

I was lucky
I was brought up in a hunting family
I always have a partner in my youngest brother
We are very particular in who we hunt with

My one brother has the identical rifle as I do, his rifle cycles normal Hornady rounds flawlessly, however it occasionally jams with the leverevolution rounds
Since we bought these rifles as grizzly protection guns that just isn't acceptable

The Hornady brass is almost 1/4 inch shorter than standard brass, much like the difference between a .38 special and .357 magnum. I like the idea of being able to find and use a variety of loaeds; I agree with you about possible rifle problems in grizzly country! eek
